Mugen musou seeks to create “playable objet d’art” that are beautiful to display and enjoyable to play with.
Mugen musou pays close attention to details and has a finish that lets you feel the wood’s grain and surface. Their products have a comfortable soft touch, and smooth and beautiful curves created by the lathe. The contrast between light and shadow is like a beautiful sculpture, and you can feel that its existence enhances the space around it.
Ebony is slow to grow, and it takes about 200 years to become around 18cm in diameter. So, it is known as a very valuable high-grade wood and is used for cabinetwork, instruments, and so forth. It is a heavier timber compared to others and is therefore solid with a high durability. However, on the other hand, it is also easy to break and is extremely difficult to process.
The wood close to the surface of the tree is gray and the part close to the heart is ebony, or a dark reddish-brown. The wood that has a striped pattern with both ebony and dark reddish-brown is called “Striped Ebony”, and it is the most valuable part of the tree. Mugen musou uses this striped ebony, and uses a finish that suppresses gloss so that you can fully enjoy its beautiful grain. When you play with it, you can hear a metallic sound that you may have never heard before from the wood.

MUGEN MUSOU objet d’artは、飾って美しく遊ぶこともできるけん玉「遊べるオブジェ」を追求しています。MUGEN MUSOUは、ディテールに拘り、触れたときに感じる杢目と木肌を活かした仕上げにしています。さわり続けたくなるような肌触りと轆轤（ろくろ）で生み出される滑らかな美しい曲線により、光と影のコントラストは美しい彫刻のようであり、空間を豊かにするたたずまいを感じることができます。
黒檀は木の成長が遅く、樹齢200年でも直径が18cm前後しか大きくならず、非常に貴重な高級材として知られ、古くから高級家具や楽器等に使用されています。木材の中でも非常に重く硬い材で強い耐久性がある反面、割れやすく加工が極めて難しい材料です。
杢目は、木の表面に近い材は灰色、木の中心に近い材は漆黒もしくは茶褐色。その中でも漆黒と茶褐色の縞模様が入る物を「縞黒檀」といい、黒檀の中でも最も貴重な部位になります。MUGEN MUSOUはその「縞黒檀」を使用し、美しい杢目を存分に楽しめるよう光沢を抑えた仕上げをしています。 プレイすると木材では聞いたことがない、金属音に近い高い音の響きを愉しむことができます。
